Super Easy Halloween Snacks

Wednesday, October 29, 2014

So I was suppose to post about these Halloween goodies last week, after my sangria recipe. But I didn't feel like baking then. There's a baking mood, you know. I wasn't in it. When was I in the baking mood? Well, 1 AM last night, of course. Typical me. So I baked while I caught up on yesterday's episode of Sons Of Anarchy (Poor Bobby).

These goodies are super easy to make. I'm talking a toddler could whip this up, which seems to be the talent level of most of my DIYs these days. Both snacks are perfect for Halloween parties, baking with your children and devouring as your family watches Casper for the four thousandth time, or just making them for a party of one.

(Warning: this is a very picture-heavy post. Proceed at your own risk... and that of your waistline.)

A twist on the traditional cupcake, inspired by my favorite Halloween candy. All you need is classic white cake batter, yellow and orange (red + yellow) food coloring, vanilla icing, and candy corn pieces. The longest part of this recipe was layering the batter in the muffin pan, it's that simple.

You don't know this, so this might just blow your mind, but... brownies are kinda my specialty. It all began with a box of brownie mix on a drunken college night and the rest was history. Ask my boyfriend. They're damn good. How do you halloween-ify your staple dessert? Throw a ghost on top of them!

If you thought it couldn't get any easier than those cupcakes up there, you were wrong. Grab a box of brownie mix and follow the instructions on the back. Cut the brownies into medium squares and top each with a large marshmallow. Melt a few spoonfuls of icing and dibble it over the top.

Do you have any go-to Halloween snacks? Tell me about them!

Holy Guacamole!

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I definitely stole that from Jared Leto (he performs in a "holy guacamole" shirt sometimes and it shows up as a caption under one of his IG photos at least once a week), but I dare say it applies 50x more for this post than under his photo of his biceps.

I made guacamole this weekend. Nevermind that I've bought the "guacamole kit" from Trader Joe's about 14 times and tossed it into the trash 14 times after I let it spoil in the depths of my fridge. Yet, my shopping trip on Friday resulted in my dropping multiple avocados and jalapeƱos into my cart. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised on Sunday night, staring down at a bowl of green, creamy goodness.

Now, I'm no guac-connoisseur - I've only attempted making the good stuff a handful of times - but I found, or rather the boyfriend found, this recipe based on the guacamole from one of our favorite restaurants, Rosa Mexicana. It's the easiest recipe I've ever tried. Here's documentation my most recent, and yummy might I add, attempt.

Oh, and I quick funny that popped up on my IG feed earlier today. 100% Relevant.

The end :)

Got any guac tricks up your sleeve? Give me some pointers for my next attempt!

I Been Drinking, I Been Drinking

Friday, February 7, 2014

So after venting on yesterday's super-late post, I'm showing up today much more relaxed. That's probably because I spent my Thursday night (and a maybe a few nights before), sipping Chambord Kir Royales and binge watching January Favorites videos on YouTube. Honestly, I can't think of too many things better than a raspberry drank and lots of beauty talk right about now.

Chambord Kir Royales are beyond delicious, and I've recently learned from Karena&Katrina that they are low in calories. Win, win, win! (The 3rd 'win' being that tingly, warm feeling after the first glass). Oh, and they are the simplest to pour. If you're looking for a new, tasty, somewhat guilt-free drink, check out my sad awesome recipe illustration thingy below!

1,2,3; Edited by me.
Although I'm both cleansing out my makeup collection and trying not to buy too many unnecessary products, I'm addicted to YouTube videos in general and I'm always on the lookout for that raved-about product. So I've been loving these favorites videos and these YouTubers.

Everything Nicole Guerriero recommends ends up being the bomb.com, which
reminds me I need to repurchase Christian Dior Creme de Rose Lip Balm.

As if I need any more light pink polish, I want Tanya Burr's Nail Polish in Mini Marshmellows!
And it's sold out :(

Not only is NitraaB hilarious in this video (& every video!), but she always has
the discount codes that make me want to buy everything. Everything.

That Sally Hansen Topcoat might have to be mine soon.
Topcoat that dries in 30 seconds? Yes, please!

Happy Weekend!
