Monday (Not-So) Morning Motivation

Monday, December 30, 2013

This quote really hits home for me. Although quite a bit has changed this year, in some days I also feel like so many things haven't. I look back to a year ago & in some respects, I wish I had "started [that] day". And so, this quote motivates me to start today so that on December 30, 2014, I won't wish it - I'll be thankful I did.

Happy Monday!

Losing Someone Is Weird.

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

The inevitable final, slow tick of the clock can be so strange. It can happen suddenly with a clock that everyone thought was in such good shape and had so much time. It can happen tragically to a brand new, little clock spared the pain of attachment but already attached to by those who bought and expected it home. It can happen to an antique clock that everyone complimented for holding up so well, when we all expected it to stop ticking long ago. And it can happen to that clock we've had for years that's a bit beat up and gets stuck from time to time, but is no less for the wear.

But whenever that chime sounds, we can never really be sure what sound will progress out of it.  Talking could resume, crying could commence or silence could descend like a heavy blanket. When my uncle passed away a little over a week ago, I was saddened as the final chime sounded. For a few minutes after hearing the news, I laid in bed quietly, trying to decipher how I should feel, how I should react. I hadn't seen him in a while, but I remembered all too well his sometimes unruly gray hair and the way he'd say from the screen door "let my baby out so I can see her" when my dad and I would  drive by to say hello. He'd pat my equally as unruly hair down on my head, talk of "how pretty his little niece was" and plant a gentle kiss on my forehead. It didn't matter how not-little I became, this was the ritual; it was always the ritual. And it saddened me that something I'd taken for granted as for always wasn't anymore. But that's how it is for all of us, right? We realize the things we take for granted just as soon as we aren't granted the comfort of them anymore.

I went about my day pretty normally. From time to time, I'd catch my reflection in a mirror or a storefront window, and notice that my eyes were moist, but I was okay. Yet, there was this weird sadness I felt in my chest, almost like choking on a ball of tears. My uncle was the first of my dad's siblings that I remembered losing. My eldest aunt passed away when I was much younger, but my uncle was the first I'd lost as an adult. And perhaps, to some that wouldn't make a difference, but to me, it did. When we are children, we think of our parents as these invincible superheroes. As far as I'm concerned, my dad is still nothing less than superman, but last week, I was confronted with the idea that he is mortal no matter how much it may seem otherwise. As I get older, so does he, and before you know it, our parents are well past middle-aged. To us, they are the same parents who can run around shopping with us or cook family dinner every Sunday, but as they inch past 60 and nearer to 70, events occur that force us to acknowledge the years gone by. Sometimes health issues creep in, and sometimes the birth of a grandchild makes you realize the passage of time. And sometimes, the death of someone so close in age to your parents can make you painfully aware of just how fragile life is. And so, as I remembered my dad's brother, I thought about my dad, not much younger than him, and was forced to recall that he can't be with me forever no matter how much I wish it differently.

As I sat in the pew of the funeral home surrounded by my family and watching others come to express their condolences, I watched my eyes bounce from one family member to the next. Eyes that I frequently cursed in the mirror for being too small or too dark. Many of us have such similar facial features, something that gets overlooked, at least by me. Most of us have those same expressive, almond-shaped eyes. Eyes that betray our emotions and put on display whether we are happy or angered or frustrated. Or sad. As I looked around, I saw a dozen sad eyes. And although this should've upset me further, I smiled at my aunt who was seated the furthest away from me but staring at me with a tight (perhaps even forced) grin. Our eyes were sad and our hearts heavy, but we were together and that made me smile.

Losing someone is weird.

Winter Bucket List

Thursday, December 19, 2013

So last season was my first attempt at making a bucket list and I must admit, I failed miserably. Really. I looked at this post of my Fall Bucket List and cringed at all the things I didn't do. What was I doing all fall?! My only saving grace is that many of the things can be carried over into the winter, so here's to second chances.
                                      completed!
counted my blessings                    cozied up to scary movies
made hot chocolate                     wore rich colored lipstick & polish
jogged on the pier                         watched Hocus Pocus (2x!)
decorated for fall                           wrote a chapter of a novel (this kinddaaa counts?)
watched the Village parade        bought fall-scented candles
read 2 good books                        watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (on tv)
wore scarves                                   cooked 3 new dishes (surely this counts!)
Now that I've listed out all the things I've done, it doesn't seem so bad after all. And in my defense, I walked passed and peeked into an art exhibit down the street from me, watched tons of Sunday night football, and passed up on the stocking of candy corn because I'm trying not to eat my way into a new pants size. Some of my completed adventures are documented via posts on this blog (click links above), while some are pictures on Instagram. In the future, I plan to keep evidence of everything item that I complete and document it on my Instagram (Click here to be iG friends!).

So, about that winter bucket list...

I thought to add "eat lots of candy canes" but, again, not trying to put items on the list that result in bigger jeans. Regardless, I'm sure I'll find my way to them as it's not winter to me without candy canes. Although winter isn't my favorite season, I really do like it. To me, it always carries memories of week- and sometimes month-long vacations, snow days from school, big puffy coats, sledding with my daddy, hot chocolate in wintery mugs, warm fuzzy mittens (which I couldn't stand as a child), my birthday, and of course, lots of festivities.

What do you look forward to most about winter?

My New York City Love Affair ❤: La Maison du Macaron

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

One not-so-glorious afternoon, I wobbled down 23rd Street after a cold and painful run along the Chelsea Piers. It was freezing and not made any better by the now cold sweat sharing my workout coat with me. I thought I was going to fall right there on 23rd, frozen still, the day before Thanksgiving. Within a sea of walk-ups and random pharmacies and pizza parlors, I thanked my lucky stars when I spotted a cute little shop that looked like it sold some sort of hot beverage and yanked the door open with my frigid little fingers. Not only did I find something to warm me up (a piping hot cup of hot chocolate!), but I discovered something deliciously yummy that made braving the cold, yet again, a bit less miserable.

Located on 23rd street between 6th and 7th avenues, these may be the best macarons I've tasted. Ever. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest chorus of "hellos" from the 3 women working that day. They were bustling about with a fresh batch of macarons but made sure to let me know they'd be with me shortly. The first thing I noticed was the wide array of colors/flavors. It probably took me 10 minutes just to choose which ones I wanted to try, but everyone was so patient, describing flavor after flavor and then repeating a few (hey, it was a lot to take in!). I don't recall all the flavors I chose, especially because she threw a few extra macarons in my bag that I should try because of their popularity. I do know that I loved the Rose and Salted Caramel flavors, even though truly each one was amazing.

On top of the plethora of macarons, La Maison du Macaron also has lots of desserts, including eclairs, tarts, brownies, lemon meringue cookies, and muffins. I was so distracted by the macarons that I didn't even bother with any of the other treats. But I can imagine that everything from this shop is just delicious.

I could've just grabbed my little bag of macarons and ran out the door. But the dread of the waiting cold air and the excitement to taste one of these gems lead me to sit for a while. The shabby chic decor reminds me of photos I've seen of Parisian coffee shops. It's quaint and cozy, but my favorite part of the decor is the cute twist on classic paintings. I thought it was so clever :)

Macadamia Miracle Masque

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

My hair was super long when I was younger. I'm talking down to the middle of my back long. When I turned 12, my mom decided it was time to chemically straighten my hair because detangling my extremely thick hair was too time consuming. So, I got my first relaxer and my first haircut right along with it. Even then, the ends of my hair rested on my upper back. But between the everyday styling of my teenage years, college in a small town with no hair stylist, and the stress of law school, my hair has never been 100% healthy. I've struggled with periodic trims that turned into huge chops for a while. Until, the Macadamia Deep Repair Masque found me.

Beauty gurus across the Youtube-osphere screamed from the rooftops about the Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. And I listened immediately, although I wasn't sure how it would work with my hair texture, because I'd been searching for a deep treatment for my hair. I love my hair salon, the same salon I've been going to since I was about 14, but I also really like doing my hair at home. When I'm home, I can leave a masque in my hair for an hour or let my hair air dry to limit exposure to heat. It's tedious, but I like feeling like I'm treating my hair (& scalp) really well.

And this masque is so good to my hair! I added it to my haircare regime 8 months ago and it has completely changed the condition of my hair. I recently trimmed (not cut!) my hair and it was the first time in over 6 months that I needed to. Every single time my hair stylist sees me, she comments on how strong and resilient my hair has gotten. Even my boyfriend mentioned how shiny my hair looked (I decided to take this as a compliment instead of a criticism of its past condition lol). I'm convinced that this masque is responsible for the improvement. It's described as "a revitalizing hair reconstructor for dry, damaged hair". To name a few ingredients, it contains macadamia and argan oils for moisturizing and preventing breakage, tea tree oil for overall hair health, chamomile oil for revitalizing hair and strengthening roots, and aloe for sheen and lustre. It leaves my hair voluminous without being frizzy, soft without feeling weighed down, and smelling amazing without sacrificing any of the above. I'm in love.

If you're looking for a product to change your hair completely, don't hesitate for a second more! The masque is more expensive than others (most websites price it at $30+ for just 8.5oz), but I found my huge 16.9oz tub for only $35 on sleekhair.com! That's a professional size, double the masque, for practically the same price. Click here to get in on that deal. And if you're skeptical as to whether this masque will work for you, you can purchase a 1oz travel-size for less than three bucks. Oh, have I mentioned that I've had the same tub for the past 8 months and I'm barely ½ way through? What are you waiting for? Go get'chu some :)

Blog-lebrity For A Day

Monday, December 16, 2013

Fancy seeing me here again. But I missed you so. Do you mind entertaining me for just a few minutes more? :)

I recently started following Erin from Two Thirds Hazel, and caught a glimpse of this really fun quiz she created. I was super excited to do it, ergo why there's a double dose of me today. In this post, she exposes her love for Cosmopolitan magazines at a time when she probably shouldn't have been reading them, and I can totally relate. I remember spending numerous allowances on Cosmos and hiding them under my pillow whenever my parents came in like a teenage boy with a nudy magazine. But I digress.

One of the best parts of Cosmo magazines were the celebrity pieces that read like a huge fill-in-the-blank. It was always interesting to see a celebrity's handwriting and answers to random questions. So, download this quiz on Erin's blog & be a celebrity for a day!

Not So Fiction Friday: Music Playlist & $175 Giveaway!

Friday, December 13, 2013

So. A few weeks ago (ok, more like over a month ago), I posted a bit of fiction staring my newest fictional characters, Sebastian and Lea (click here to check out the first "chapter"). And sometime last weekend, I vowed that I'd post a bit of fiction this week, and I thought to do so today for "Fiction Friday".   But, ya see, somewhere within the second page of writing, the story just stopped happening, and 1 ½ pages really isn't enough to post. But, for anyone who really cares, next week I got you! So instead, here's a bit of music that I luurrvvveee <3

I created this playlist the first fall semester of law school while struggling through finals studying, but the songs are so good that I've been listening to them ever since. I plucked quite a few of the songs from Vampire Diaries scenes because, for anyone who watches, you know that soundtrack is always amazing. It's rather mellow-toned (did I just make that word up?) with somewhat upbeat tracks sprinkled in. And I just love the way the songs all go together, and blend kind of seamlessly into one another. It's a quick 30-minute playlist full of songs that will both inspire you to think deeply about your life and dance around your room. As these songs got me through some rough and rigorous weeks, you'd think this playlist would make me sad. But on the contrary, the beautiful melodies of some songs and the soft, sultry voices on others make me smile. I hope it does the same for anyone who listens to it.

& because this music playlist is so perfectly timed, I'm linking up with Whitney from I Wore Yoga Pants for #backthatazzup Friday!

Do you have a certain set of songs that just gets you through it?

Happy Weekend!

Maybe I Want It Afterall.

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

Throughout high school and much of college, I'd thought I was so sure about everything. And truly, most of it I was sure of , and some of those things I was even right about. Life is about progression. Very little should stand in the way of becoming a better you daily. Nothing is worth losing yourself. If it doesn't advance you, friend or lover or action, than it's only holding you back. You don't need anyone to make you feel complete. And anyone who tries to convince you otherwise isn't worth your time.

But I'm growing up. I'm 25 and most of my friends and peers are adults. And adults live adult lives. They have careers, and homes, and bills, and, spouses, and children. They have responsibilities to uphold and relationships to cultivate.

Holly & her "Fred"

You don't need anyone. But it's okay to want someone. And one day, you meet someone who makes you realize that you want all of the things you never thought you needed. Wanting it doesn't make you weak. It's okay to dream about your wedding day, to be strangely obsessed with "Say Yes To The Dress", and ogle diamond engagement rings on the Tiffany website. (Even the fabulously single Holly Golightly had breakfast at Tiffany's). You shouldn't be ashamed of scribbling a list on a post it,  trying to find the perfect middle name to go with 'Charlotte' for your future baby girl, and tucking it away for safe keeping. An argument with your boyfriend isn't suppose to ruin your life, but it's understandable if it ruins your night. Being connected to someone in such a way that it feels like it encompasses you is okay so long as it doesn't eat you alive.

And I want that. I want happily ever after. I want it all.

Books To Be Read 2014

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

Isn't she lovely? *insert goggly heart eyes here*
The Law Library of Munich

It's been said 74615 times, but of course I can't believe there's only 3 weeks left until the end of the year. Wasn't I just embarking on my final semester of law school like yesterday?! I don't know how much I'm looking forward to mistakenly writing "2013" for the first few months of the year (seriously, it always takes me like 2 months to adjust!), but I know I'm excited to set a new reading goal for 2014.

Last year, I set a goodreads goal to read 6 books for the year. What? 6 books is like nothing! I know. Now, that I'm a normal person I look at that number with embarrassment. But when you are in law school you couldn't be further from being a normal person, and you are lucky if you finish your case reading every night. As I explained in this post, I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to read one book, and I finally completed the first book towards my goal in September! According to my goodreads counter (check my sidebar to be goodreads friends!), I've read 4 books, which means I have to read 2 in the next 3 weeks - totally doable. I just started Pride and Prejudice, a novel I should've read years ago but never got around to it. And, I will finish the year out with either Divergent or One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.

But this post is about my "to be read" list of 2014. With all this free time on my hands, I've become obsessed with reading, writing and book reviews, and I must admit that it feels great to fall back into those things again. So, I'm excited to compile a reading list for the upcoming year. I searched on google "how many books can I read in a year" and landed on some community page where people were saying they read 8-15 books per week. Eeeeep! I don't know how that's possible, but my goal is much more modest than that (minuscule in comparison really). I intend to sent a goal of 20 books for 2014, but I don't have a definite list just yet. Here's a list of a few books I'm interested in. Leave me a comment below with lots and lots of suggestions!!

Divergent series by Veronica Roth
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fotzgerald
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
What She Left Behind by Tracy Bilen
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
The Book Thief  by Markus Zusak
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Forever by Pete Hamill
A Sport and a Pastime by James Salter
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
The Good Lord Bird by James McBride
The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman

Truly, my interest in some of these novels is peaked by the upcoming movie adaptations and, as I've said before, I don't like seeing a film adaptation without first reading the book.

Do you have a "to be read" list? How many books do you plan to read next year?

The Big Letdown, Get Down.

Friday, December 6, 2013

A bit melodramatic for today's post, but Blair Waldorf is myyy girl!

Have you ever felt like no matter how good of a girlfriend, or daughter, or sister, or friend that you are it just doesn't pay off? Like it's not good enough? Almost like you're being let down even though you know you've been nothing but supportive and loving and caring?

An event in my life left me pretty let down recently. It's a feeling I try to avoid, like everyone else on the planet probably (I mean really, who likes feeling like they are falling of a cliff?). I rarely allow my expectations to get too high or myself to get too excited about something for fear that it won't end up like I thought it would. I know it's a horrible, depressing habit, but my experience has taught me not to put too much stock into people. (I can't be the only person with experiences that lead them to think this way). I don't mean to be negative and I'm not really spiteful about it. In fact, I try to stay positive, to trust people and to be understanding. People are human and imperfect. The letdown doesn't have to be the end of the friendship or relationship. Even if you decide that what has happened permanently changes things or makes you trust someone less, it doesn't automatically mean you've gotta discard it all. Just because someone isn't your best friend doesn't mean they aren't a friend at all. There's level to this. To friendship, to relationships, to life. And quite frankly, with all of that said, it's been a while since I've felt let down and it hit me like a ton of bricks, for lack of a better metaphor. My emotions ran the gamut, from confusion, to anger, to frustration, to sadness - all of them directed both inwardly and outwardly.

But when you feel as though you've been let down, it's important to take a second and put things into perspective. Sometimes, we read it as a betrayal or an affront to the relationship. If he loved me, he'd come home on week nights instead of getting drinks after work. Only a horrible friend could exclude me from her party like that. And it's also easy to blame yourself. He never says I'm beautiful because I've gained 25 pounds. She takes advantage of me because I let her. Figuring out why the letdown occurred is essential, but laying blame is not. The goal is to help to patch the relationship and ensure that it doesn't happen again. It's more about the why and less about the who or the what. Does your boyfriend go for drinks to pick up girls or because he feels like he's losing his single self in the relationship? Did she exclude you because she doesn't value your friendship or because of pressure from family or friends? Does he fail to compliment you because he doesn't feel it or because he doesn't know you need to hear it? To mend the relationship or simply understand the letdown, you've got to find the solution and bypass the blame game. Because if you focus on blaming yourself or the other person and ignore how to mend it all, you lose. Do not pass go; do not collect $200.

People let you down, whether intentionally or not. It doesn't make them s#!+ people. It makes them people, period. It makes us people. And so does the ability to understand and forgive.

A Girl Who Reads: L.A. Candy

Thursday, December 5, 2013

Title: L.A. Candy
Author: Lauren Conrad
Publication: 2009
Major Characters: Jane Roberts, Scarlett Harp
Main Plot: Jane Roberts and her best friend, Scarlett Harp, moved to Los Angeles just a few weeks ago, and they have already been thrust into the spotlight of reality television. Of course, said spotlight includes luxuries that they could only dream of yet never afford before. But it also comes with price -  a price they can now afford but just might be unwilling to pay.
Favorite Line(s):
"The only way to belong is to act like you belong. Or not give a s#!+ whether you belong or not."

So while trying to decide which book I was going to read next, I plucked this novel from my bookshelf and began reading it just because I wanted to read something. That isn't to say that I had absolutely no interest in reading it, because I did purchase it and put it on my bookshelf after all. I really like Lauren Conrad and her writing style, and I read her blog daily. So I thought to get the first novel in her series, L.A. Candy, for when I was in the mood for easy flowing chic-lit. But a week ago, it just wasn't something jumping off my shelves, screaming "read me" and so it wasn't really a contender. You can imagine my surprise when I found myself 150 pages into the story after one night of reading!

My Rating: 3.0 - 3.5

So if you love L.C. and you enjoy her writing style, why give it only 3 stars? The characters! I wasn't necessarily so jazzed about the plot either (which seemed at least partly based on L.C's personal story which we already know from Laguna Beach and The Hills), but I think that the book went totally awry for me regarding many of the characters, specifically the main protagonist. Jane Roberts is a blonde hair, blue-eyed pretty girl next door. She's fresh out of high school, a bit naive, and seems eager to please pretty much anyone. Quite frankly, she's a bit annoying, and although I think L.C. meant for her to be relatable, her "innocence" actually made her quite unrelatable. I didn't hate her, but I'm pretty sure it's never a good sign when a reader isn't invested in the protagonist of the novel. What somewhat saved the book were the characters of Scarlett and Braden (both of whom I really liked). I wanted to know what happened to them, and because both of their stories intertwined somewhat with Jane's, I became somewhat interested in her. Yet, I still found myself plowing through chapters waiting for mention of either Scarlett or Braden and merely tolerating the rest.

Overall, I don't feel let down at all (I know this is her first novel), but I suppose because of how much I adore L.C., the novel fell short of my expectations. It seems as though she was pushing the story in a particular direction instead of developing it and the characters fully, so there were gaps and jumps that sometimes seemed out of place. That's not to say I won't read the rest of the series in hopes that the next few books are better with lots more of Braden and Scarlett (I'm a sucker for a series), but I'm not running out to buy them.

Clarisonic Mia 2, I'm Counting On You!

Wednesday, December 4, 2013

I made the decision a few months ago to really invest in my skin, specifically my facial skincare. And yet, even after watching countless "the Clarisonic is amazing!" videos (have I mentioned that I'm a YouTube junkie?!), I still wasn't ready to run out and purchase the cleansing brush device that all of the world was raving about. In my eyes, there was just so much stacked against it. The price tag, the possible purging stage, the idea of a vibrating brush on my face, the fact that I had really clear skin already and rarely had breakouts at all. But about 2 months ago, I experienced a terrible breakout due to a new product I had tried, a breakout that left quite a few dark spots on my face. Now, dark spots from acne fade sllooowwwllyy, especially for those of us darker-skinned ladies (try 6 months!), so I was eager to find something to prevent and treat these little pests. All roads pointed to the holy Clarisonic to prevent these breakouts, and so this past Sunday I gave into the shouting testimonials and purchased my very own Clarisonic Mia 2.

The Clarisonic Mia 2 is a cleansing device that claims it can clean your face 6x better than hands alone. With 300 movements per second, it loosens dirt and oil trapped within pores, leaving softer skin and enabling treatments to get in deeper. The rate of Vitamin C absorption after use is 61% greater as well. According to users, over 90% of them report softer, more radiant skin. It's not like I'm telling you anything you don't already know. Some of you probably already own a Clarisonic or some other cleansing brush, and most of you have probably spent hours researching it or hearing about it from various sources.

What sealed the metaphorical deal for me was the claim by Clarisonic and many users that because of the deeper clean, it enables products to perform better. As I mentioned, I've decided to invest in my skin, and if I'm going to shell out nearly $100 or so on a cleanser/toner/moisturizer trio, I want to get the most out of it. It didn't really hurt that this particular device, the Amethyst one, came with a few freebies that I really wanted to try! When I'd compliant to Sephora saleswomen about the hyper pigmentation on my face, they all suggested the Ole Henriksen truth serum vitamin c collagen booster, so I'm excited to try that.

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't worried about the possibility of the dreaded purging stage. Apparently, because the Clarisonic is bringing impurities to the surface, a lot of people experience pretty unpleasant breakouts for up to a month, after which you're left with clean, supple skin. Can't say I'm looking forward to that! I figure that using it only once per day in the beginning may help prevent the purging stage from being too bad.

Any thoughts? Did you experience this phase? What did you do to either prevent or deal with it?

Baggy Butt Pants and Risotto.

This little questionnaire is stolen from Jac (I even stole her formatting because I'm such a mooch) because as I read her post, I wondered how many of C's and my answers would match up. It's rare that C and I remember things exactly the same way, and I joke all the time that he has a "selective" memory.

I answered the questions first and then, read them to him and recorded his answers. There was quite a bit of laughter and "I can't believe you's" as we made our way through and I revealed my responses to him (He hates being wrong lol). We faired much better than I thought we would. Maybe we wouldn't lose on The Newlywed Show after all - I've always wanted to be on a show like that!

So without further ado, challaaaannnggeeeee!**

How long have you been together?
Just over 5 years now [!]
5 Years.

Where was your first date?
I don't really remember, especially because college dating is so weird. I know that the first time planning going out was at a party he was hosting.
*Repeats question* Never really had a date. I remember being in your living room watching Goodfellas.

Where was your first kiss?
His infamous white charger with the dark tinted windows. He thought he was so cool (he kinda was, I guess).
In the car. In the Nittany apartment parking lot.

Who said the first "I love you"?
He did! He let it kind of slip on the phone one night and when I feigned ignorance with a simple "huh?", he repeated loud and clear. Just had to make sure :)
Me.

What's her most commonly used phrase?
I don't know. Probably something like "Babe, I think..." because I'm always just talking to him about random things I'm thinking.
I don't know. Let's come back to that... *He turns to lay down, when  I say "Babe, are you listening to me? You're not paying attention." And then he pops up pointing at me and says "That!!"

Who is her celebrity crush?
Not sure I have one. He'll probably say Drake or Chuck Bass.
Drake, The Rock. Or Christian Hander-something, the dude from the movie with T.I.
*note: he totally meant Hayden Christensen (I've always crushed on him a bit), but C is terrible with names, haha!

If she was ordering drinks for both of you, what would you each get?
For me, a water or diet pepsi, or a cosmo. For him, a sprite or a Jack&coke.
She would get a cosmo, an amaretto sour or sex on the beach. Me, probably a Jack&coke.

Baked Mac & Cheese.
Baked Mac & Cheese, with collard greens and fried chicken. (*I give him a side eye and read my answer*) What? You said meal not little side dish.

What's the worse meal she's cooked for you?
A rice dish that he swears was more like Risotto. I admit I accidentally overcooked it, but he still teases me about it. I can't remember the name anymore that's how much he teases me.
*Laughs for like half a minute* Risotto.

What's the most played song on her iPod?
I mostly listen to music on my iPhone and it's usually a Spotify playlist or alternative/indie rock.
I don't know about an iPod. But she's always listens to her wake up playlist & get ready playlist.

What would she say is your most annoying habit?
Either falling asleep while we're watching television, being lazy pants, or spitting in the sink.
Spitting and putting my foot up on the couch.

What's the last thing she does before she goes to bed?
I try to read but it doesn't always happen.
Wash her face, brush her teeth and blog. She likes to read but it doesn't happen often.

If you could throw away one item of her clothing, what would it be?
The black uggs (the first gift he ever gave me) because they are a little beat up :(, but I love em!
The baggy butt pants that are too big with the shrunken legs... And the uggs! Definitely the uggs.

What would you say is your favorite thing about her?
My sillyness.
Her personality. The fact that she always finds a way to smile and realizes her flaws and tries to fix them.

What's her go-to drink at Starbucks?
Salted Caramel Latte during the season or Caramel Macchiato.
Caramel Macchiato.

What's her blog name?
Lipstick Stains & Coffee Cups

Thankgiving Hangover.

Sunday, December 1, 2013

You know what I'm talkin' about! Whether it hits you right after that last bite or the following morning, the Thanksgiving hangover is the best hangover there is. And because Thanksgiving feasts usually result in lots of yummy leftovers, you're guaranteed to get drunk off turkey for at least a few days.  I can't be mad at that :)

I hope everyone had a delightful Thanksgiving & remembered to take a moment for gratitude as well as turkey!
