Me & My "Silly Switch"

Today's topic: Take this short personality test and respond to your results.

Every single time I take one of these personality test, the results are dead-on. Every. Single. Time. If there are 10 characteristics predicted, 9 ½ of those apply to me no doubt. So I wasn't surprised when the personality test above informed me that I am an "Extroverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving" (ENFP), basically a warm, friendly, talkative individual.

An ENFP is "enthusiastic, charismatic and creative." The extrovert in them is energized and renewed by socializing, but craves alone time as well. Our intuition leads us to focus on the world of possibilities. We tend to let our emotions and feelings guide us and frequently empathize with others. Flexibility and spontaneity as well as disorganization and procrastination plague our perception. This couldn't be truer for me if I wrote it myself. To read more about the ENFP type, click here

The following are a few quotes from my test results which I think explain my personality pretty damn well:

Some ENFPs have a great deal of zany charm, which can ingratiate them to more stodgy types in spite of their unconventionality.
I cannot count how many times I've been told that I am flirtatious to which I responded that I prefer to call it "charm." I've insisted that it's not intentional or used to make sexual advances or anything. I'm just a very friendly person who likes to flatter other people, showering them with compliments. And now I have the scientific results to prove it!

ENFPs have what some call a "silly switch." They can be intellectual, serious, all business for a while, but whenever they get the chance, they flip that switch and become CAPTAIN WILDCHILD, the scourge of the swimming pool, ticklers par excellence. Som etimes they may even appear intoxicated when the "switch" is flipped.
There are times when my boyfriend will look over at me after I've said something completely outrageous or incomprehensible and he'll say "I think it's bedtime. You are sleepy." I usually protest upon hearing this, but it's futile because my protests go something like "You can't tell me what to do, mister. You're not my daddy," after which I burst into a fit of giggles. Just putting the icing on the "you're acting like a silly, sleepy 6 year-old" cake.

For some ENFPs, relationships can be seriously tested by their short attention spans and emotional needs. They are easily intrigued and distracted by new friends and acquaintances, forgetting their older and more familiar emotional ties for long stretches at a time.
Ariel is the ultimate fictional ENFP.
I feel this way about makeup too, Ariel :)
Even the not-so-good traits describe me perfectly as well. In college, one of my closest friends had a nickname for me that exemplified by love for new shiny things that I desperately wanted at that moment, destined to be set aside for newer and shiner things a few moments later. She tried to talk me out of purchasing this expensive, purple patterned, knee-length over-coat that I just had to have. I bought it anyway and it's hanging in my closet right now - with the tags still attached, of course :) This trait shows up in my personal relationships as well. I am quite possibly the worst "texter" ever, and I have a tendency to get so wrapped up in conversations with friends and new acquaintances that I'll forget to return my parents' phone calls on occasion.

So I am off to call my mom :) Have you ever taken a personality test like the one linked above? Were the results as telling as mine? Tell me about it in the comments below!

  1. I have that short attention span that they are talking about when it comes to relationships. I forget I have a girlfriend. Like if I go to the grocery store. I will leave without her. Ahhh i should be an ENFP!

  2. Yup, this sounds just like me, too, haha! Especially that part about being distracted by new and shiny things! Ah, I do it with blogging too! I always return, if people have enough patience... but it tends to hurt people that you can be so passionate about them and then sort of disappear for a time. But I've found that for OUR sanity, it's necessary! Thanks for sharing this, Kari -- I've read some new ENFP insights that I hadn't seen before! :)

Leave me love ❤ If you don't get a response from me, it's probably because you're a no-reply blogger. Fix that!
